So the planned ride in to Grouse Mountain seemed have been planned around an off-road MTB route. Only found this out as I am struggling up 2km of 15% gradient to the start point, when overtaken by an MTB'r riding and walking his dog (he was riding 1:11). Aborted, and just as well as there were a lot of MTBs and I would have looked slightly out of place with my skinny tyred and Lycra...
Bimbling back, I helped out another MTB'r who had replaced an inner tube but had the wrong pump to inflate it with. In return, he pointed out the proximity of the roadie climb of Grouse. Knowing that I didn't have the gumption to do the full climb, I made it to base camp!
The whizz back was fun, but had certainly earned brunch at Stamp's Landing!
A bimble and cruise back was topped with ANOTHER picnic, on Sunset Beach.
Off to Vancouver Island tomorrow and a chance for some more wildlife spotting and a quiet couple of nights!
